Aniline Type A No1
This is beautifully rich, full grain, aniline dyed leather. It is smooth and silky to the touch and the further addition of waxes and oils enable a subtle pull up effect to be achieved when the leather is stretched during upholstery. This gives a unique and pleasing variation to each piece of furniture. Due to the finishing of this type of leather a pleasing aroma is also clearly in evidence.

Full grain full aniline Type A No2
This is full grain full aniline leather. As such it is dyed through, and has been given a light toning with aniline dye–just enough to make it resistant to dirt. No colour pigments are used. This totally natural finish displays all the characteristics of real leather. Aniline leather breathes; it is warm to the touch in the winter and cool in the summer. It has a very soft tactile finish, and being totally natural it ages beautifully, and develops an entirely unique look for each piece of upholstered furniture. Frequent use of aniline leather will develop its patina and bring years of satisfaction. Being completely natural, its colour and surface will vary from hide to hide.

Full grain Type A No’3
This is a rich classic leather with a bright sheen finish, a soft smooth handle and a naturally variable grain structure. The finish is highlighted by applying a slightly darker top coat to the grain tips of the leather. This produces a subtle mottling effect. Please note small samples may not show all the shade variation of a full hide.

Full grain semi aniline Type B No’1
This is full grain two-toned semi aniline leather produced on only the best quality hides. It is finished to give a unique look to each hide. No two hides will be identical - some areas of the hide will be much darker than others due to undergoing hand padding with a darker topcoat as the final finishing process.

Semi aniline Type B No’2
This is a semi-aniline hide tanned to ensure a pleasing distressed or antique finish. Extra fat liquors are applied during tanning, to give the leather a slightly oily or waxy feel. They are designed to allow the natural variations of the leather to show through to the finish coat. Pull-up leathers do not have a consistent colour density across the whole hide. They are also designed to change colour when pulled or stretched. They are not as colour fast as pigmented hides and are designed to age rapidly. They should be protected from direct sunlight and not placed next to radiators. Evidence of marks and scarring will be seen through the surface finish. Each hide is unique and swatch samples should be regarded as no more than a guide, for these types of leather.

Semi aniline Type B No3
This is made on high quality hides, and has a beautiful semi-aniline handle. A slight two-tone effect is evident and is achieved by using pigments in the initial coat, with later coats containing a contrasting dye. These hides are uncorrected and will show all natural marks and scars, giving evidence of the natural origin of this type of leather. It is very soft and supple leather and needs a little more care in use than pigmented hides, as it can be easily scratched or scuffed.

Corrected Type D No3
Rub off is a variety of pigmented leather where the surface is made more attractive by the application of a contrasting topcoat, which can be partially removed (rubbed off) to reveal the underlying colour. This effect relies on a very thin top layer, which will have a more limited durability. This leather will be subject to colour change in use.
