I am confident that our pieces from our Signature range, crafted in manner 1 are undoubtedly among the worlds finest pieces of furniture.
Perfection is what I have strived for with our crafting techniques.
One chesterfield sofa will take 100 hours to make and for that we guarantee the frame and internals for 50 years.
Each style is based around 19thC Victorian and early 20thC pieces that we have had the pleasure of working on and are being crafted in the most exquisite manner.
All of the pieces can be hand dyed using a historic dying process which uses a product that is made from Walnut husk. This really does provide a truly unique method of crafting and finishing our pieces. Please call us to discuss your requirements.
We will be crafting the Signature range in two different manners, each of which are created to become true, future antiques.
Signature Range
Manner 1:
- Full Beech frame and walnut legs
- fully loose coil sprung seats arms and backs (these are all tied in by hand onto webbing known as "black and white webbing")
- filled using loose horse hair (tail only as this is the finest component available that always retains it natural tension) and pure wool lining.
- all upholstery is carried out using hand tacking only (no staples are used). This is a very time consuming process but it really is the epitome of traditional upholstery
- covered in russet hides and hand dyed. Alternatively we can use pre-dyed leathers according to your preference.
- each 3 piece suite takes around 20 working days to craft including the hand dying and finishing process.
- to the best of my knowledge we are the only chesterfield manufacturer in the UK adopting these methods for a full range of Chesterfield furniture
- this really is the finest method of manufacture
- lead time approximately 10-12 weeks
Manner 2:
- Full beech frames and legs
- Fully coil sprung seats arms and backs
- Filled using rubberised sheets of boars bristle (this is a substitute to loose hair - we do not use foam of any description or any man made
products) and cotton felt
- all upholstery is carried in a modern method using staples for fixing
- they can then be covered in the leather of your choice or can be covered in a raw russet hide and then hand dyed
- order to delivery approximately 6-8 weeks.
